Nandos Pays Tribute to Fellow ‘Fiery Chick’ Adv Thuli Madonsela

South African fast food restaurant chain Nando’s has created an advert in tribute to outgoing Public Protector, Advocate Thuli Madonsela, who serves her last day as PP Friday.

Referring to Madonsela’s courage in questioning even the leader of the country, President Jacob Zuma, the advert says “Always the griller. Never the chicken” and “Thuli, your courage fired up South Africa.”

In the caption for the post on social media, Nando’s – which is famous for its hot peri peri chicken – said: “From one fiery chick to another.”

And Madonsela clearly likes it – she tweeted this Thursday:

Nando’s is renowned for its adverts which provide tongue-in-cheek commentary about political and current affairs in the country – from the Hawks’ investigation into Finance Minister Gordhan Pravin to the President having to #PayBackTheMoney concerning upgrades to his Nkandla homestead.

Nando’s posted the image above on their official facebook page together with a message saying: “#PayBackTheMoney #HowMuchThough” after it was announced that Zuma had to pay back some of the money for the Nkandla upgrades.
