Jana Coetzee, a nurse with a heart as big as Africa, posted these photos of herself at work in the pediatric oncology unit at Netcare Unitas Hospital in Centurion, Pretoria.

Her caption read: “When your patient doesn’t want to leave you alone to do all the admin! 2 hours and the admin is all done!”

Jana told SAPeople there are so many great nurses in her unit who do this kind of thing daily “caring for our kids”.

“We are all very passionate nurses and would do anything in our ability to make our patients smile!” she says.

Last week, for instance, “one of our enrolled nurses held a boat building competition for four of our teenage boys [and then] called us to judge. After the winner was announced we decided everyone deserved a prize, so we staff members bought them some nice chicken wings and chips from the hospital cafeteria! The boys enjoyed it a lot and were kept busy while the nurse continued with all her other duties!”

When her pics went viral, Jana wrote: “I am really so overwhelmed by this! To me this is normal because I am sooo blessed to have the best job in the world! I work with amazing doctors and all my co workers, and management, are just as passionate about all our patients and their families!”
