South Africa’s own Charlene Wittstock (33) has officially married her Prince! The former Olympic swimmer married Prince Albert II (53) of Monaco this afternoon in a civil ceremony. Ignoring the rumours that swirled around Monaco in the past week, the couple beamed on large screens that were shown around the principality as they both said ‘oui’ when asked if they would take each other in marriage.
The former Olympic swimmer looked radiant in a Chanel blue jacket and ankle-length pants.
Charlene and Prince Albert II used a special monogrammed Montblanc pen, created with gold and precious stones, to sign the register.
Tonight the the citizens of Monaco (7,618 of them!) and their partners have been invited by the royal couple to celebrate their wedding at a post-ceremony cocktails soiree. French composer Jean Michel Jarre will then entertain the crowds with a laser light show.
Tomorrow will be the more glitzy religious ceremony.
