South African actor Stelio Savante has just joined the cast of one of Peter Greenaway’s most highly anticipated films, Eisenstein in Guanajuatowhich begins principle photography early 2014. The film highlights ten days during Eisenstein’s stay in Mexico that shook his life up.

Greenaway is a four time Palme d’Or nominee, won “Best Artistic Contribution” at Cannes and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Loverwas also nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. In a direct quote, Greenaway states ‘As cinema dies it is time to celebrate its greatest practitioner, Sergei Eisenstein, who discovered sex and death in Mexico in 1930.’
The 2007 SAG nominee and former Ugly Betty recurring cast members’ prominent filmography includes: South African Oscar winner, A Million Colours, Movieguide winner What IfMy Super Ex-GirfriendStarship Troopers 3: Marauder and upcoming African drama Where The Road runs Out, which became the first feature to shoot in Equatorial GuineaHe will portray Hunter S. Kimbrough. This real-life character was one of the financiers and producers of Eisenstein’s original venture that included meetings with Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.
The critically acclaimed actor performed in 110 Stories at The Geffen, The Public and The Skirball NYU. He starred opposite Susan Sarandon, Samuel L Jackson, Jeremy Piven, Melissa Leo, Tony Shalhoub, Katie Holmes, Billy Crudup, John Hawkes, James Gandolfini and many other award winners.
 
He also just wrapped a sex trade thriller entitled Selling Isobel directed by Raindance nominee Rudolf Buitendach, starring opposite Matthew Marsden. And he can also be seen Guest Starring opposite Jim Caviezel in an upcoming episode of J.J Abrams’ Person of Intereston CBS.
