Durban hosted one of South Africa’s hottest aviation events on Friday and Saturday – the Durban Sky Grand Prix of aerobatics, and as can be seen by the photos, their promise to “take you to the sky and back” was delivered.
The Land Sea Air event was held at North Beach and featured a special appearance by a South African Airways airbus, leading the Silver Falcons in a spectacular display just 300 ft above the sea.
Over 145,000 people visited the festival – which was free to the public – over the two days of the long weekend, according to its facebook page.
The aerobatics competition was won by Frenchman Francois Le Vot with two South Africans featuring in the top five – Patrick Davidson in second place and Nigel Hopkins in fourth.
