The excitement and pressure is mounting now for South Africans in South Africa to make an effort to vote this coming Wednesday.

Many have already indicated that after witnessing the effort that expats went to to get to voting stations that were often many hours’ drive (even flights) away from them…they are now determined to travel the far shorter distance to cast their vote in the South African Elections on 7 May 2014.

For those who still aren’t totally convinced they should vote, two South African expats have created the following video messages…

South Africans voting in London 30/04/14

By John Versfeld, the first person in the queue to vote in Trafalgar Square, London

“A Short Video of the Voting in London, with some Images of South Africa to make those overseas homesick! I travelled over 1000Km to vote – two trips from Manchester to London – which was far less then a lot of people here in the UK. If this video inspires only one person to vote who would not have otherwise voted, I will be happy! www.versfeldphotography.co.uk – john@versfeldphotography.co.uk”

Video: People of South Africa: Now It’s Your Turn

By Eben van Ellewee

“Short video of my special vote at the South African Embassy in Budapest, Hungary.

“To all the citizens back in South Africa: Please exercise your right to vote when the time comes. After all: It only takes good people to sit and do nothing, and evil will succeed. Go vote with your head.”
