You’re never too old to ride a Harley! Henry Friebus (90) – founder member of the Harley Davidson Club of Cape Town

“Hey all, meet Henry Friebus – 90-years-old and the founder member of the Harley Davidson Club of Cape Town,” says Lee Peacock, co-owner of Amakhaya Harley Davidson Tours in the Western Cape. “He just rode his Harley from Cape Town to Knysna over the weekend! LEGEND!!!”

It’s not the first time that Henry – who used to work for Constantia Pick ‘n Pay – has broken stereotypes. When he turned 83, the passionate biker broke the land-speed record on a Harley Flathead on the Salt Lake in the USA. Watch the video below, filmed at Bonneville Speed Week 2008:

It’s clearly not for nothing that they say:

If you want to be happy for a day, drink.
If you want to be happy for a year, marry.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime, ride a Harley-Davidson!

Henry has been lucky in his life to have had a lifetime of happiness with his Harley and his wife, Anne, who sadly passed away recently after 65 years of marriage!

“It’s the reason I would love to share their story far and wide,” says Lee. “I spent the weekend with Henry at the Harley Rally and he spoke and missed his wife so incredibly much. Literally brought me to tears. He deserves all our outpouring of love and respect!

“Thinking of you Anne…we will look after Henry for you until you are both re-united again.”
