In a video uploaded a week ago, a driver in Durban can be seen quite clearly refusing to get out of the way of a taxi driver who thought he could jump the queue…on the wrong side of the road.
The video, filmed by a dashcam (dashboard camera) in Che Guevara Road – formerly Moore Road – was uploaded to facebook by Johan VD Westhuizen, although it isn’t clear if Johan took the video. In his caption he says: “Moore Road, Durban, lots of traffic and this taxi thinks he can drive on the wrong side of the road to push in, instead he had to reverse all the way back.”
Johan posted the video, which has a great soundtrack, to ‘You Drive like a _ KZN’, a facebook page which offers a “safer way to vent your frustrations” to drivers who have “nasty experiences on our KZN roads.”
According to YouTube user Gwyneth Thomas, she had a similar standoff in Bompas Road in Dunkeld, Gauteng. “I don’t have a dashcam so can’t show it. The taxi drove towards me on the wrong side of the road so I just stopped in front of him and held my ground.”
