One of the things many South African expats miss is a spectacular lightning storm… so when the lightning strikes, on a trip back home – they capture it!
Bev Tromp – formerly from 5FM – took these pics on Sunday evening during her holiday back to South Africa. “It was one of those wonderful wild crashing, light up the entire sky type of Highveld storms!!” she says.
“Compared to the UK’s polite incessant drizzle, you gotta love a bit of weather with attitude! :)”
And Vivek Srivastava, from India who now lives in Cape Town, caught these lightning strikes on his mobile phone in Johannesburg in January. “A compilation of South Africa’s famous lightning…” he says. “I was very lucky to capture two lightning strikes on my mobile camera.”
