It’s been a big week for Kevin Richardson. South Africa’s Lion Whisperer reached the milestone of 150,000 followers on YouTube and he had awesome photos of himself and his mates, the lions, splashed all over media across the world. And for Kevin it’s fantastic news – because it means the story of the lion is getting to more people. The story of the lion and the urgent need to conserve them.
In a message on his YouTube ‘The Lion Whisperer’ channel, Kevin wrote: “This is a big moment for us, we’ve reached 150K subscribers! Thank you to everyone whose subscribed, shared and liked our videos, you’re helping us make a difference! #SaveLions.”

And on Facebook he posted a photo of photographer Adrian Steirn, along with a tongue-in-cheek comment, saying: “Let’s be honest, would you have the guts to stand on the open back of the truck?” (From the guy lying in the grass next to the lion!)
Steirn joined Richardson to capture a powerful photo for a billboard. Photos of the shoot have been published around the world this week. Below is a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. The end is – as hoped – incredibly powerful…and heartbreaking…
Richardson hopes through his YouTube channel to raise awareness and money for his sanctuary where the main purpose is to preserve wild species.
