The Lighthouse Ladies received a warm welcome home at Grotto Beach on Sunday afternoon after walking close to 100 kilometres over four days to raise funds for a much needed drug rehabilitation programme in the Overstrand area.

Members of I Love Hermanus community group, said: “We are so proud of this incredible group of selfless women… They are such a beacon of light and a prime example of how communities in South Africa are taking matters into their own hands to bring about change.”

The Lighthouse to Lighthouse Walk ended at Grotto Beach in Hermanus, Western Cape, with a crowd of people to welcome the women, including mayor Nicolette Botha-Guthrie.

The Lighthouse Ladies are made up of approximately 80 women who complete this walk annually from Cape Agulhas to Danger Point Lighthouse, to raise money for charities which serve the Overstrand.
