Lionel Richie has been wowing the crowds in South Africa, and judging from his messages on Facebook – he’s loved the shows in Durban, Cape Town and Joburg as much as the fans have loved singing “all night long” and being taken down memory lane by the American superstar.

After Tuesday night’s show in Joburg, Richie wrote: “A night to remember. Thank you, Johannesburg, for singing along with me!”

And after Friday’s show – where it rained – at Cape Town Stadium, Richie said: “You are the sun, You are the rain… ? So much love for you ‪#‎Capetown‬! Thank you! ‪#‎AllTheHitsSouthAfrica‬.”

Regular SAPeople contributor Madhuri Kooverjee Chavda‎ was there and said: “What a brilliant concert. Lionel Richie delivered! It was absolutely mind blowing. One of the best concerts…and the rain did not keep his fans away!”

It seems Richie and his fans always have a jol when he tours South Africa. The best jol.

And after legendary promotions guru Penny Stein posted photos a few days ago of Richie’s last tour to South Africa (in November 2008), Richie reportedly told 947 station manager Ravi Naidoo “that was the most amount of fun he ever had”.

It sure looks like it…

Richie’s tour began in South America, and after South Africa he heads to Las Vegas and then the UK and Europe.
