Louis Oosthuizen is the latest South African player to have brought an element of surprise and entertainment  to the US Masters at Augusta National in the USA this past week…after successfully hitting a deflected hole-in-one! TV commentators said they’d NEVER seen anything like it in their lives!

This follows Gary Player’s record-breaking performance, becoming the oldest golfer – at 80 – to hit a hole-in-one at the Masters Par 3 contest, and Ernie Els’ worst ever first-hole score with a whopping 9.

Defying all odds, Oosthuizen – nicknamed “King of the Swingers” – sank this hole-in-one on the 16th Par 3 in the fourth and final round.

Of course the biggest surprise and shock came when Danny Willet, son of a vicar, won the Green Jacket from defending champion Jordan Spieth who had appeared to have it in the bag.

The PGA Tour called it “one of the most shocking collapses in tournament and major championship history”.
