With news that a Spur restaurant is opening in New Zealand, South African expats in and around Auckland have expressed joy… while some South Africans back home have (jokingly!) pointed out that it will make last year’s brilliant advert – in which South African rugby players enjoyed a “distinct advantage” over the Kiwis” – no longer valid! And that perhaps it’s no coincidence the Kiwis want their own Spur!

Since 1967 Spur has grown across South Africa, and is now enjoyed in various countries on the African continent, as well as in Australia (New South Wales and Western Australia), Ireland and the UK (although the initial four branches in the UK has apparently been reduced to just one).
