A total of 179 awards were given at #Loeries2016, the most prestigious creative industry and brand communication awards for Africa and the Middle East.

Nando’s – South Africa’s legendary flame-grilled chicken restaurant chain – won Grand Prix prizes in the categories ‘Brand Identity & Collateral Design’ (with ‘Global Visual Identity System’ by Sunshinegun) and ‘Shared Value’ (for ‘Chicken Run’ by Nando’s Chickenland).

According to Between10and5 “Chicken Run is an art sourcing initiative where a curator and her team head off on a monthly ‘chicken run’ in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Zimbabwe to source art for the Nando’s Art Collection.” Watch below:

Tusker Lager’s ‘Team Kenya’ – by NetworkBBDO – won the Grand Prix in the ‘Digital & Interactive: Mobile Advertising’ category, while Channel O’s ‘’Youth Day’ – by BlackRiverFC – won in the ‘Newspaper Advertising’ category (see below).

Award-winning copywriter Sauce LaFlare tweeted: “The first ad I ever made won a Gold and a Grand Prix Loerie. Incredible…” and later he said “I’m afraid to sleep because I honestly believe that when I wake up, this will all be just a dream.” #DreamsDoComeTrue
