The Democratic Alliance is delivering its corruption-fighting message in South Africa and around the world, with DA leader Mmusi Maimane telling CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that the DA promises to end corruption in the country. (Watch video below.)

Maimane told Amanpour “what South Africa needs at this point in time, is stable leadership in the Presidency.”

In the last couple of days, the DA party has also:

  1. announced that Tshwane Mayor, Solly Msimanga, has put an immediate stop to all purchases or leasing of luxury cars for politicians and senior officials. Ten new vehicles which had already been bought by the previous ANC administration will be delivered instead to the Police Department where they’ll serve in a newly-formed Anti-Hijack Unit.
  2. posted an image showing that while the ANC lost 1 million votes between 2011 and 2016, the DA grew by 840,000.
  3. announced that Nelson Mandela Bay Mayor Athol Trollip has frozen Mohlaleng Media’s “dodgy” R21million contract with the Municipality. Trollip said: “This administration will not tolerate irregular, wasteful or unnecessary expenditure, in any form.”
  4. pointed out that R1.6 million has been spent by the ANC on luxury cars for the Tzaneen Mayor, Maripe Mangena, and its Speaker.
