Angelina Jolie’s lawyer has confirmed that the Hollywood actress has filed for divorce from fellow movie star Brad Pitt.

Her lawyer, Robert Offer, said she filed for “dissolution of marriage” yesterday (Monday).

He said the “decision was made for the health of the family” and that “she will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”

Jolie and Pitt fell in love on the set of ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ in 2004, while he was still married to Friends actress Jennifer Aniston. Jolie and Pitt most recently worked together on ‘By The Sea’ (2015).

They married in France in August 2014. Earlier this year rumours were rife that the couple was set to divorce after reports surfaced that she wanted to sell their French home, Chateau Miraval.

Jolie is allegedly asking for custody of their six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

The date of separation is listed as 15 September, and according to reports Jolie has cited “irreconcilable differences”. TMZ claim sources told them Jolie had enough of Pitt’s use of grass and his alleged “anger problem” which could pose problems with their children.

Other American newspapers have claimed Jolie (41) discovered Pitt had an affair with French actress Marion Cotillard (40) on the set of “Allied”, and that the 52-year-old is going through a mid-life crisis and indulging in too much of a ‘single’ life.
