45 Fabulous South African Beaches Flying the Blue Flag PHOTOS

South Africa is renowned for its amazing beaches, and local beaches rank amongst the best in the world (officially!). This year, a fabulous 58 Blue Flags will fly at SA coastal sites including 45 beaches, five marinas and eight sustainable tourism boats. So if you’re a tourist (or a local) – check out the list below for beaches that are safe, clean and fab!

The Blue Flag is an international award, started in France in 1987, which is given to beaches, boats and marinas that meet the standard of excellence in terms of safety, amenities, cleanliness and environmental standards.

The announcement of the 2016 International Blue Flag Jury results were revealed last week in SA by the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA). The season officially opens on 1 November. If you’re looking for a Blue Flag beach to visit, here’s the list…
