The eight-year-old tradition at the school sees students hand in their shoes that they will no longer need… to be donated to less fortunate school children.

It’s an awesome initiative, practised at many schools around South Africa, that brings joy to so many – those that give and those that receive.

Today Fish Hoek High School said the tradition reached a new high with 167 pairs of shoes handed in, and one exam still to go!

“167 Matric pupils left school in their socks and they bid a tearful goodbye to their teachers and fellow matriculants,” said the school on Facebook.
