Hollywood star Whoopi Goldberg showed she’s clearly a big fan of Trevor Noah when the South African comedian appeared on ‘The View’ on Friday… and told him he’s welcome back anytime.

Whoopi’s enthusiasm for Trevor’s book ‘Born a Crime’ was apparent during the talk show, and when he admitted he’s truly afraid of the dark, Whoopi joked “but you’re not uncomfortable here”, gesturing to her chest.

Trevor discussed being tossed out of a moving minibus taxi while he was a child (because of the driver’s threats to his mom who had clearly slept with a white man), how living in hiding didn’t affect him (because his own ‘reality’ – as created by his parents – was more important than the real reality), his fearless mom, the importance of mocking laws you don’t believe in… and the curse of acne.

Trevor also discussed how black women, like his mom, were at the bottom of the rung in South Africa… something Whoopi Goldberg had found out for herself during the filming of SA classic ‘Sarafina’ in the country. In a previous interview with SAPeople, Whoopi admitted she wasn’t surprised by the racism in South Africa, which she expected, but that she was totally shocked by the sexist attitudes in the country.

Trevor’s appearance on The View was to coincide with the launch of his new show ‘Trevor Noah: Afraid of the Dark’, which will be available on Netflix from 21 February.
