BLOEMFONTEIN – A 13-year-old girl in South Africa has testified via CCTV that she was repeatedly raped by various men while her mother watched and scolded her.
She stated that her mother and father would pray to the devil afterwards and their eyes would go “black”.
Whilst giving the testimony, her father (44) and mother (36) sat in the dock with their eyes glued to the TV monitor. Her father wiped his eyes a few times.
The teenager said that when she asked her mother to help her, her mom just laughed and said she deserved it.
She said her dad was aware of what was going on because he took videos of the rapes in question.
She also stated that if she refused to remove her underwear her mother would beat her, and that she would be forced to watch her mother have sex with the men before being raped herself by multiple men.
The girl said her parents were not Christians but that they worshipped the Devil.
According to her testimony, things had been different when her grandparents lived with them, but after they moved away things got bad – she and her brother had not attended school as her parents said there was no money… however they used their cash to buy drugs and liquor. Her little brother was allegedly also beaten by their parents.
Acting Judge President Cagney Musi is presiding in the case, in which the couple face 13 charges relating to the incidents from 2012 to 2015. The accused have pleaded not guilty and the trial is continuing.
