Msimanga invited journalists on a tour of the controversial Pretoria mayoral mansion which the DA hopes to sell for approximately R5-million. The DA-led Tshwane Council voted in late September to sell the mansion.

Msimanga said the 5-bedroomed home has been sitting empty for a “number of years” and that both the buying of it, and the renovations of it, were controversial. Apparently the previous ANC administration claimed to have spent over R12-million on the renovations.

Msimanga showed the media the substandard building work that had been done, and said he doesn’t wish to spend anymore money on the residence, “at the expense of residents of our city”.

Instead he will sell it and use the funds so that people on the housing list can benefit.

Msimanga also pointed out that since the DA took over Tshwane corrupt or poor service providers are no longer used by the City, and it’s now possible to blacklist companies that engage in shady dealings.

Take a look inside the mayoral residence in Pretoria… to be sold to benefit the poor.
