In between American President Donald Trump’s hectic schedule of mouthing off about the alleged terrorist in the New York West Side truck attack, and the need to end “chain migration” (when family members are permitted to follow – watch below), attending a cabinet meeting and promising an announcement today on who the new Federal Reserve head will be (probably Jerome Powell)… he also found time yesterday to wish South African golfing legend Gary Player a happy birthday!

The US President tweeted a message on Wednesday saying: “Happy birthday to @garyplayer, a truly great Champion and Person!”

One of the many responses was: “Gary Player would make a better president than you. For that matter, Charles Manson might make a better president than you.”

Lots of people – including celebrities around the world – took part in the #Plank4Player challenge, planking for 82 seconds in honour of 82-year-old Player who’s renowned for his dedication to physical fitness.

Player tweeted: “Many, many thanks to everyone for your most kind & heartfelt response to my birthday. Greatly appreciated indeed. GP”

They’ve been tweeting each other since 2014:

Gary Player was with a whole bunch of former American Presidents just last month (at the President’s Cup):
