Scandal Veteran actor, Sandy Mokwena has died at the age of 68, writes Wendy Mothata.

Mokwena is well known in South Africa for his role as Eddie Khumalo on eTV’s popular weekday soap, Scandal!… a role he has played since 2005.

Sunday World reports that the channel’s spokesperson Michael Pocock confirmed Mokwena’s passing.

“We can confirm that Sandy Mokwena who played the character of Bra Eddie on Scandal! Passed away last night [Wednesday]. The cause of death is still being determined and we will advise as soon as we get more information,” he said.

Bra Eddie played roles in various shows such as Yizo Yizo, Generations, Justice for All and Zero Tolerance Soul City, Okavango, Khululeka and Going Up.

He also took part in a world tour, in 1972, as part of the cast of the musical ‘Ipi Tombi.

Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa tweeted: “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends & colleagues of veteran actor Sandy Mokwena who has sadly passed on.”
