The Special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the African National Congress (ANC) has been postponed following an apparently “fruitful” meeting between the ANC President and South Africa’s President.

The special meeting had initially been scheduled for Wednesday, 7 February 2018,

“This postponement follows fruitful and constructive engagements, on various  issues, held earlier today by the President of the ANC, Comrade Cyril Ramaphosa and the President of the Republic, Comrade Jacob Zuma,” said the ANC in a statement late Tuesday evening.

The NEC will now meet, as scheduled, in a Special NEC meeting on the 17th February 2018.

The Presidency has also denied allegations that a reshuffle is on the cards.

The allegations reported in the media that President Zuma wishes to fire Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and replace him with Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma are “preposterous and outrageous”, according to the Presidency.

“The allegations are completely baseless. The allegations of ethnic mobilisation by the President are equally without foundation,” the Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday night.
