Former President Jacob Zuma is set to marry a young woman from Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, according to local reports. The woman, named in local media as Nonkanyiso Conco, allegedly gave birth to Zuma’s child in a Hillcrest hospital last week.

Zuma apparently visited the mother and baby in hospital amidst tight security. It is alleged that the baby was born on Zuma’s birthday – 12 April 2018 – the date on which Zuma turned 76.

Conco – who will become Zuma’s seventh bride – is believed to be 24-years-old (although some reports said 26), making her Zuma’s youngest bride. She is apparently the director of the Nomkhubulwane Culture and Youth Development Organisation, which protects the cultural practices of Zulu maidens.

Both families are reported to be happy with the union.

Conco, who lives in an exclusive estate in Ballito, has confirmed to reporters in South Africa that she is set to marry Zuma, but said she needed to consult before giving any interviews. Conco told Times Live: “Yes‚ we are getting married‚ but that is all I can say.”

Helen Zille tweeted: “No words (if this is true)…”

Zuma is a polygamist who currently has three wives, one ex-wife and one from whom he is separated. He has allegedly fathered 22 children that are known of, from at least 11 women.

Meanwhile Zuma’s most famous son, Duduzane, also made news today. The National Prosecution Authority (NPA) announced its decision to prosecute Duduzane on a criminal charge of culpable homicide… in connection with a vehicle accident on 1 February 2014 on the M1 highway in Gauteng – in which a young, female passenger, Mekelina Dube, tragically died on impact.
