South African comedian Trevor Noah says he has “officially fired” Michelle Wolf, the controversial comedian who had US politicians not laughing in the aisles at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner last weekend.
Using President Donald Trump’s catchphrase, from Trump’s ‘The Apprentice’ reality TV days, Noah said: “You’re Fired!” But it was tongue-in-cheek. Wolf had left The Daily Show a few months ago, to headline her own show on Netflix.
In actual fact, Noah came to the defence of Wolf … who has been heavily criticised by Trump supporters, after her roasting of Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the Dinner. She has refused to apologise.
On Monday night’s episode of The Daily Show, Noah said (jokingly of course!): “Michelle should have had the decency not to comment on women’s appearances in any way, shape or form. She’s a comedian for God’s sake, not the president.”
He also aired several incidents when Trump didn’t hold back in commenting on the appearance of women, often in a not too favourable manner…
