Fast food restaurant chain Nando’s has joined the Bok Boks bandwagon… along with AB de Villiers and most of South Africa. You’ll hear them at school, in Woolworths… and even on TV.
Everyone is mimicking the professional golfer who sent his private ‘bok boks’ voice message to the Sunshine Tour group… instead of to his girlfriend. (The audio tape in which he calls her his bok-boks, special person and baby bear has of course gone viral – you can hear it here.)
In a post on Friday afternoon, Nando’s said: “We’ve all had that “ag-no-man” moment when you push send. Now we’re all your special person. #GetItTogether”. The Nando’s banner featured the words: “Don’t worry Bok Boks… we know a thing or two about spicing it up.”
Cricket superstar of the moment – AB de Villiers – looks like he lost a bet or something… because he also managed to throw in a few of the ‘special person’ and ‘bok boks’ references during an interview in India.

SAPeople spoke to the golfer behind the message on Friday… who fortunately said he is finding it “very funny and hopefully just everyone has a laugh!”
Looks like they are. Actor Glen Biderman-Pam – who starred as Rael in Tali’s Wedding Diary, has also put his energy behind a Bok Boks message:
