Just yesterday he renewed his contract with Red Bull. This afternoon MotoGP said: “What a way to celebrate signing a new @RedBull_KTM_Ajo contract ??? Brilliant @BradBinder_41 wins his first #Moto2 race in style ?#GermanGP.”

Friends and fans have congratulated the 23-year-old, with one summing it up: “BRAD BINDER YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND! He’s done it and man does he deserve it! What a race!”

Binder had started in tenth position… but he made a break, got to the front, and held on tight once he was there… securing a win of 0.7 seconds.

Spain’s Joan Mir, Italy’s Luca Marini and Binder’s team mate Miguel Oliveira (Portugal) came in 2nd, 3rd and 4th position.

Binder told reporters after his momentous win: “I felt I had a little more power than the others so I decided to go for it and make a break.”

He wasn’t 100% confident in his decision though. He admitted: “I was afraid I made a mistake. When it got to 10 laps to go I had zero rear tyre left! I could hardly touch the throttle.”

In 2016 Binder became Moto3 World Champion. He debuted in Moto2 just last year.

Up until today’s race he was standing sixth in the overall standings.

After renewing Red Bull contract, Binder said: “The goal is always to fight for the highest honours and I think we can achieve this. This year we had a difficult start, but I know we can be up there for the rest of the season. Now it’s time to continue working hard this season and improve GP after GP.”

Looks like he’s off to an awesome start!!!
