On Sunday a video by four South African students went viral… for its fantastic humour, showing what happened to their accents after drinking water from Woolworths, which is known for being super posh! Since then there have been some brilliant #WooliesWaterChallenge videos in response…

Here’s the first video, in case you missed it, by Twitter users Bab_Sinkila, MossBanele, MabokoItumeleng and gomolemon_:

Twitter user Mac_325 then tried the Woolies milk, and discovered it had an even more extreme effect:

Dala U Crew then enlisted a white guy to try the water. They said: “You must have been thinking, But What happens to a Wit Ou when he Drinks Woolies Wooter… #nowyouknow #WoolliesWooterChallenge”

South African retailer Woolworths has been loving the attention and engaged the students, agreeing that their water was “exquisite” and they’d like to “amalgamate” with them.

On Thursday afternoon, Woolworths shared several posts that South Africans have created this week for the #WooliesWaterChallenge hashtag, including this one from coach TimeSesethu: “Stay hydrated??? to knock those life obstacles. Remember keep it going, keep it flowing like the waaater!! ???Oh yesss!”

Even Shannon McLaughlin – who recently made worldwide news when she called out Woolies for copying her uBuntu Baba merchandise – joined the trend:

#keepitgoing #keepitflowing #stayhydrated #woolieswaterchallenge
#gottalovesouthafricanhumour!
