Some areas suffered power outages and road closures (including Franschhoek Pass where a rock-fall damaged vehicles and left the road totally blocked).
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said on Saturday that there is the possibility of “severe frost” in places over the central interior of South Africa on Sunday and Monday morning.
SAWS said: “Please ensure that the necessary precautions are taken in terms of outside plants and pets that are sensitive to very cold conditions.”
