Travelling to Brazil just got easier as South African Airways (SAA) has signed codeshare and frequent flyer agreements with local Brazilian airline Gol – Linhas Aéreas (GOL).

The agreements came into effect on Thursday, and not only contribute to SAA’s strategy of growing partnerships globally… but benefits customers with more travel options.

SAA acting Chief Executive Officer Zuks Ramasia said the airline is pleased with the mutually beneficial agreement “which gives our customers, through our direct flights to Sao Paulo, a number of further travel options to explore Brazil.”

Brazilians will also get the chance to explore Africa.

The agreement allows SAA to add its code on 20 flights operated by GOL in the Brazilian territory, so that SAA customers can integrate their travel seamlessly with easy connections on flights of both carriers.

Connecting flights include Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, and Florianópolis, among others.

With GOL being Brazil’s leading carrier in the domestic market, it extends SAA’s reach throughout Brazil quite considerably.

Through the signed Frequent Flyer Programme (FFP) agreement members of each airline’s programmes – Voyager from SAA and Smiles from GOL – will also have the chance to accrue and redeem miles.
