South African Cartoon Lockdown
While Downstairs sleeps like a baby, Upstairs is preparing for war. Her first objective is to identify her foe. Having squared away her barracks, she makes space to prepare her intelligence gathering apparatus.

Downstairs is on the move, at last doing his morning ablutions. Will he clean up his flat today? Meantime Upstairs is about to manufacture her intelligence gathering apparatus. She has all the materials she needs, and is calculating her measurements.
And if you couldn’t find toilet paper in the shop last week, now you know why.
South African Cartoon Lockdown
A busy day comes to an end. The preparations for Upstairs’ first action in the War of the Shattered Cellphone are complete. Tomorrow at 06H00 her campaign will commence.
Oblivious Downstairs is still pigging out, but may later have to face some consequences.
06H00? Clearly Upstairs doesn’t know what we know – Downstairs is a late riser.
Stay safe.
South African Cartoon Lockdown
Dawn and the start of the War of the Shattered Cellphone.
As planned Upstairs started her “identify-the-#*@-who-did-it” intelligence gathering operation at oh-six-hundred sharp.
Downstairs? At least he cleared away the beer cans.
It seems like Upstairs is in for a long vigil at her periscope.

At last Upstairs’ patient vigil at her intelligence gathering periscope bears fruit….
South Africa Cartoon Lockdown
The end of week One, is drawing to a close. Upstairs’s intelligence gathering was partially successful. She didn’t see the face, but she now knows her foe is a man. She is planning the next phase of her campaign- a punitive strike.
Downstairs has cleaned his apartment, but is starting to feel melancholy.

What a surprise, Downstair is up at the crack of dawn, and looking for something to occupy him.
Upstairs is still in bed, but her preparations for the punitive campaign in the shattered Cellphone War are in place.

At 13h00 Unbeknown to each other, Upstairs and Downstairs share a communal moment when they sing the National Anthem with all other South Africans. Downstairs has started sanding his walls. Does he have any paint?
Upstairs will implement her campaign soon.

At last, after meticulous surveillance and planning, Upstairs pulls the trigger on Operation Break his #*@ Window. Military strategists say, of course, that a plan never survives past the fist shot…

“The idea for this series came to me early in the morning on the day of the lockdown,” says Piet. “If I can bring some pleasure in this strange time, I am happy.
