Poorer communities to the southwest of Johannesburg and even farther afield have been benefiting off the incredible feeding schemes being run by the Muslim Association of South Africa.

Many of the communities MASA feeds are around Lenasia, such as Vlakfontein, but also the organisation has gone as far as New Scotland in Mpumalanga.

Earlier today MASA also delivered personal protective equipment and face masks to Helen Joseph Hospital Urology Clinic in Johannesburg.

While there have been numerous reports of ANC officials stealing food parcels for the poor, or only feeding particular race groups, several people on social media congratulated MASA for doing the right thing. Letters of thanks have also come in from various quarters, including the City of Johannesburg.

In a recent tweet, MASA said, “Ubuntu in action is the spirit in which we live. The value in which we serve and connect with one another. Let us all continue to do what we can to fight the challenges of this time, TOGETHER!!!”
