It’s Official. It’s Snowing on Table Mountain, Cape Town

Capetonians awoke to an extremely chilly day today… although nobody quite expected it to snow, what with the start of Spring being just days away for South Africa. UPDATE: Photos of snow on Table Mountain, Sunday 30 Aug.

But Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has confirmed it truly snowed this morning on Cape Town’s famous mountain. Table Mountain Cableway tweeted: “It’s official! It’s snowing on Table Mountain! Our team shot this video of the frosty winterland on top of our African Wonder this morning. Stay warm everyone!”

The snow reportedly began falling at approximately 10h00 on Saturday (29 August).

Snow has also fallen in other areas of South Africa from Sutherland in the Northern Cape to Ceres in the Western Cape.
