An alleged child rapist was in court today after allegedly luring two minor girls to a hotel in Pretoria, South Africa, and raping both of them. One of the girls managed to escape and seek help from other people in the hotel, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS). The girls were aged just 11 and 13.

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit investigators of the SAPS in Gauteng confirmed that a 45-year-old man would be appearing today, 23 November 2020, in the Pretoria Regional Court following his prompt arrest on Friday 20 November 2020, for the rape of the two girls.

Police from Sunnyside were alerted to the rapes on Friday late afternoon. “It was reported that the suspect had earlier in the day taken the two minors from Lotus Gardens in Attridgeville to a liquor outlet in Pretoria West and from there, the three headed to the hotel where the suspect booked a room where he allegedly raped both victims,” said SAPS in a statement.

“It has further been reported that the youngest victim managed to escape and alerted people who were in the hotel. Hotel security were alerted and police were called in and subsequently arrested the suspect who was still in the hotel room.”

The investigators confirmed that the suspect is a parolee, after having served time for a previous rape case.
