A local woman, aged 30, was rescued at lunch time today after falling out of a charter boat as it entered the Hout Bay harbour near Cape Town in South Africa. The woman was seriously injured when she fell out of the rigid hull inflatable boat as it passed through the harbour mouth.

The charter boat, on which she is believed to be an employee, managed to rescue her and bring her to shore. The charter crew initiated first aid treatment for her injuries.

NSRI Hout Bay duty crew were activated just after 13h00, the station’s commander, Spencer Oldham, said in a press statement. Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services, Western Cape Government Health EMS, ER24 ambulance services, Hout Bay community crime prevention medics and Netcare 911 ambulances services responded as well.

“On arrival on the scene the female was treated for injuries sustained in the incident,” said Oldham. “She was airlifted to hospital by Netcare 911 helicopter in a stable but serious condition for further treatment.”

We wish the injured woman a full and speedy recovery.
