Autumn has reached South Africa which means that it’s also time for warmer desserts to enjoy after big meals. We often enjoy malva and chocolate puddings but you should try our Amarula pear tart. The recipe is made similar to a regular cake pudding with a sweet sauce to add to the richness to go along with additional toppings. With great produce we get locally, you’ll have lots of pears to choose from to flavour the pudding and give it that holiday flavour.

AMARULA PEAR TART SUGGESTIONS

The recipe is as easy as combining the two sets of ingredients and baking them together. Similar to malva pudding, you want to make holes in the pudding and let the sauce soak in and maybe have some to top it at the end. Because it’s a warm pudding, you want a contrast in flavour and texture like serving it with a scoop of ice cream. However, get a bit indulgent and add custard along with the ice cream or on its own. The serving choices are endless.
