A man in his 50s has come forward to claim the R33 million PowerBall jackpot won in draw number 1396 on 11 April.

The man, who hails from Alberton, Gauteng, where the winning ticket was purchased, has no plans to retire just yet.

As previously reported, the R33 670 044,67 ticket was purchased at a Spar in Alberton.

National Lottery Operator Ithuba said the winner works in the finance sector.

The man revealed he plans to continue working to build a legacy for his family.

“Meanwhile, a Capitec player also won R8 693 189, 40 in the PowerBall jackpot from Tuesday, 18 April 2023, draw number 1398,” said Ithuba.

Players who win via a banking app are notified by their banks. The lucky Capitec winner is yet to claim their winnings.

“We congratulate our latest multi-millionaire and wish him well with his plans for the future. ITHUBA would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate that we are mandated, as per our license requirement, to maintain the anonymity of all our winners,” said Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
