Kaizer Chiefs need to sprinkle some stardust on their squad for next season to avoid another disappointing campaign.

Could Khanyisa Mayo be the guy with X-Factor and sauce they desperately need?

Why would he spurn Mamelodi Sundowns though?

MAYO MAKES SANDWICHES BETTER

With Mamelodi Sundowns linked with a move for Khanyisa Mayo, it’s difficult to see him starting regularly with Cassius Mailula and recent PSL centurion Peter Shalulile at the club. Sure, the money would be good, but footballers want to play football. It would also be a massive statement should they deprive Sundowns of one their priority targets in the market. It’s also easy to see why so many top sides are chasing him, the 24-year-old would imporve any team in the country.

MAYO IS IN RED-HOT FORM

Mayo has 12 goals in 26 league outings this season and this purple patch in front of goal has seen links to Chiefs resurface. If the Glamour Boys also make a move for Mayo’s teammate at Cape Town City, Mduduzi Mdantsane, there’s guaranteed chemistry right there. It would just make so much sense.

WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT KHANYISA MAYO?

It’s clear that he knows the way to goal, as evidenced by his tally of 12 goals in 26 league appearances this term. He can operate in a wide role or up front as a number 9 but his preference is to be deployed as a wide attacker. If Mayo were to sign for Chiefs, they would still need to look for a marquee target man.

CAPE TOWN CITY FACE KAIZER CHIEFS ON THE FINAL DAY OF THE SEASON

City travel to the FNB Stadium with none other than Khanyisa Mayo looking to inflict more misery on a team that’s actively trying to secure his signature for next season. He’s also tied with Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile in the race for the Golden Boot, so that’s just an extra bit of incentive for him to get on the score sheet.

If Mayo signs for Chiefs, it could be the start of a tasty new era for the Glamour Boys. Let’s see how this audition goes.
