Do Kaizer Chiefs need another striker with Khanyisa Mayo’s injured?
Khanyisa Mayo featured just 15 times and scored twice for Kaizer Chiefs last season as injuries kept often kept away from the pitch.
Kaizer Chiefs have just folked out millions of Rands of secure the services of Khanyisa Mayo from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad.
Mayo spent last season on loan at Amakhosi who had an option to purchase him at the end of it all.
And they triggered that option to keep the left-footed striker at the club ahead of the upcoming campaign.
However, it appears that move could prove costly as Mayo will not be having a full pre-season training with Chiefs.
As things stand, Mayo is currently nursing an injury having undergone surgery, and he is expected to miss the start of the campaign.
SHOULD KAIZER CHIEFS BOLSTER STRIKEFORCE WITH ANOTHER PLAYER?
Now, with Mayo clearly far from returning to action to help Chiefs, this could be an opportunity for the technical team to look elsewhere.
Amakhosi’s goalscoring problems are well-documented, and with Mayo out injured, they definitely need a new striker.
Last season’s top goalscorer Flavio da Silva, Etiosa Ighodaro and Wandile Duba are the only options at this stage.
And that is exactly what Chiefs need if they want to improve on their third-placed finish from last term.
After all, the Glamour Boys will be competing in all domestic competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup – they need depth to succeed.
Former Orlando Pirates marksman Tshegofatso Mabasa is also available on a free transfer, and he is definitely worth looking into.
WHO ELSE SHOULD AMAKHOSI TARGET?
