Former Orlando Pirates midfield star retires from football
The 36-year-old played for Orlando Pirates but he was limited to just six appearances before moving on with his career.
Former Orlando Pirates midfielder star Mahlatse Makudubela has announced his retirement from football.
Makudubela was most recently on the books of Siwelele FC whom he joined in January 2026 following a short stint in Angola.
However, the 36-year-old had little impact on the pitch as Lehlohonolo Seema preferred younger players in his position.
Now, after 17 years in the topflight, Makudubela has called it a day, and he shared the news of his retirement with his followers on Instagram.
Makudubela made a name for himself at the now defunct Platinum Stars before moving to Pirates.
He also had a successful stint with Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga) among other teams during his 17-year professional career.

“From SAFA Transnet School of Excellence in 2004 to playing across South Africa, Czech Republic, Georgia, Tanzania, DRC and Angola — every jersey, every training session, every stadium has shaped me.
“My deepest gratitude to every club I represented: Mamelodi Sundowns, Platinum Stars, Orlando Pirates, Chippa United, Highlands Park, University of Pretoria, Marumo Gallants, Siwelele FC, and to my brothers abroad at Karviná FK, FC Gagra, Young Africans SC, AS Vita Club, and Wiliete FC.
“Thank you to every coach, teammate, physio, kit man, and supporter who believed in me. The wins, the losses, the MTN8, Telkom Cup, NBC Premier League titles — I carry them all with pride.

“The boots are hung up… The Coaching Whistle is next…
“With love and gratitude, Mahlatse “Skudu- Waziri wa Raha” Makudubela,” he concluded.
