Sekhukhune United unveil released Orlando Pirates goalkeeper
Sekhukhune United have found a direct replacement for Renaldo Leaner who left them to join Kaizer Chiefs ahead of next season.
Sekhukhune United have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi following his release from Orlando Pirates.
Buthelezi was reduced to a benchwarmer at Pirates, thanks to Sipho Chaine’s rise to stardom in the past three seasons.
And given his lack of game time coupled with an opportunity to play regularly elsewhere, the lanky goalkeeper asked to leave Pirates.
The 28-year-old was limited to just two appearances last season, which included a single league start.
Buthelezi is seen as a direct replacement for Renaldo Leaner who has since joined Kaizer Chiefs following his departure from Sekhukhune United a few weeks ago.

BUTHELEZI’S OVERALL NUMBERS…
While Buthelezi may be regarded as an experienced goalkeeper, he has not really featured much in the topflight over the years.
Buthelezi played 34 games, conceded 24 goals and kept 18 cleansheets while he featured 22 times for Pirates, conceded 14 and kept 12 cleansheets.
He has played just 56 official games across two teams – TS Galaxy and Pirates – conceded 36 goals and kept 30 cleansheets.
