US educators to assist Free State teachers in math and science

Nine teachers from the United States have come to assist teacher’s in the Free State in math and science.

The educators from Teachers Across Borders Southern Africa will be conducting workshops with teachers who teach grades 7, 8 and 9 throughout the winter school holidays.

BACK TO THE CLASSROOM FOR FREE STATE TEACHERS

This will be the second time TABSA will be in province, having come through in 2018. The organisation has also assisted Eastern Cape teachers have also benefited from TABSA educators. They visited the province during 2019 June holidays.

“This 20th anniversary of TABSA workshops in Southern Africa is dedicated to our friend and partner, the late MEC of Education Dr Tate Makgoe”, says Yunus Peer, TABSA Director.

TABSA began in 2001, when the Punahou School in Hawaii and the Cassim Peer Trust co-sponsored an international professional development project that sent a team of high school math and science teachers to the country to conduct curriculum specific workshops with their South Africa counterparts from rural schools.

TABSA WILL ALSO BE GIVING AWAY LAPTOPS

The agenda for the TABSA 2023 workshops has been set by teachers and curriculum advisors from the provinces education department.

The workshops will take place at Tsosoletso and Kagisho Secondary School.

Meanwhile the coding and robots program at Oziel Selele Comprehensive Secondary School will be boosted with a donation of 20 laptops from TABSA.
