The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) will shut down the cableway for annual maintenance from Monday, 28 July to Sunday, 3 August 2025.

TMACC plans to resume operations on Monday, 4 August, depending on weather conditions.

The company carries out this routine maintenance every year to ensure the cable car system remains safe and reliable.

Annual maintenance shutdown is incoming

“During the shutdown, all Cableway facilities, including the Top and Lower Stations, restrooms, restaurants, and shops will be closed.” TMACC said on its website.

Despite the closure, Table Mountain will remain accessible to hikers, with most trails and walkways staying open.

The Cableway Company advises hikers to plan ahead, as the cable car won’t be available for descending. Since weather conditions can change rapidly, visitors should prepare for a full hike and keep a close eye on the forecast.

The company also encourages visitors to make use of the ‘Local is Lekker’ special while the cableway is still operating.

This special runs until 27 July, offering South African residents tickets at R250 for adults and R100 for children, with a valid SA ID required.
