Gauteng residents will face cold weather on Wednesday, 9 July, as temperatures stay low in both Johannesburg and Pretoria.

SABC Meteorologist Mpho Rasimphi said the province will see mostly clear skies, but chilly conditions will persist throughout the day.

“We are looking at fine and cold to cool conditions across Gauteng. Temperatures today will reach around 17 degrees in Johannesburg and 19 degrees in Pretoria,” Rasimphi said.

Although the day will likely stay dry and calm, authorities urge residents to dress warmly and stay indoors when possible, especially during the early morning and evening hours when temperatures will be coldest.

Mild sunshine, but don’t expect warmth

Temperatures will remain subdued despite pockets of sunshine expected during the midday period. Authorities have not issued any weather alerts for Gauteng but continue to monitor for rapid temperature drops overnight.

Rasimphi noted that while Gauteng is not facing extreme weather, the public should still “remain cautious during the colder parts of the day.”
