Oranjezicht City Farm Market moves to stunning new Waterfront location in time for Christmas shopping
Cape Town’s beloved farmers market unveils purpose-built timber barn with panoramic views – perfect for festive gift hunting.

Cape Town’s treasured Oranjezicht City Farm Market is relocating to a spectacular new home at the V&A Waterfront, opening on Saturday, 6 December 2025.
The purpose-built timber barn offers breathtaking views of Robben Island and Table Bay – making it the perfect destination for families seeking unique, locally-made Christmas gifts.
A New Home with Enhanced Features
After 12 years of growth, the market now occupies a custom-built space just metres from its current location, blending rustic charm with modern amenities.
The new venue features upgraded facilities including running water, extraction fans for food traders, and wooden pergolas, while maintaining its signature family-friendly, dog-welcoming atmosphere.
“We dared to rebuild a market that was already working – because we believed it could be better,” says co-owner Sheryl Ozinsky.
Perfect for Christmas Shopping
I’m looking forward to visiting with my family over the next few weeks to pick up some great Christmas gifts from the market’s 100+ traders.
We always try to visit markets over the weekends – there’s something special about the atmosphere and energy.
From organic produce and artisanal foods to handcrafted goods, the market supports local livelihoods while offering unique gift options you won’t find elsewhere.
I’m always on the lookout for natural beauty treatments and skincare products, which make great stocking fillers, and the market never disappoints with its selection of locally-made, organic beauty items.
Nothing beats a visit to the Waterfront, and with the market now directly connected to Victoria Wharf via an elevated bridge, it’s easy to make a day of it – browse the market in the morning, then explore the shops and waterfront attractions.
The new location is fully wheelchair-accessible, ensuring the whole family can enjoy the experience together.
