REVEALED: Mbekezeli Mbokazi’s jersey number at Chicago Fire
Mbekezeli Mbokazi will link up with his new Chicago Fire teammates immediately after the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Outgoing Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has already been allocated a jersey number at Chicago Fire.
Mbokazi was unveiled by Chicago Fire on Monday, meaning Pirates will have to find a top player as his replacement.
The 20-year-old left-footed centre-back will be with the Major League Soccer (MLS) side at least until 2029.
He is expected to play his final game for the Buccaneers this coming weekend when they take on Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout Cup final.
Mbokazi made his professional debut for Pirates in March 2025, and this move to Chicago Fire is undoubtedly a huge step in the right direction.
WHAT JERSEY NUMBER WILL MBOKAZI WEAR AT CHICAGO FIRE?
Mbokazi has been handed the No.4 jersey at Chicago Fire where he will begin his new chapter after the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The number 4 appears to be Mbokazi’s favourite, and here is why…
At Pirates, the Hluhluwe-born starlet wears the No.44 while he uses the No.14 jersey at Bafana Bafana.
He will hope to enjoy the same success with the No.4 jersey at Chicago Fire as he has at club and international level.
WILL ‘TLB’ TAKE MLS BY STORM?
TLB, as Mbokazi is affectionately known in South Africa, will certainly take the MLS by storm.
He’s a hardworking defender with an eye for goal, and this is a stepping stone for him to move to Europe in the near future.
