Kaizer Chiefs to retain newly-appointed skipper
Kaizer Chiefs are already preparing for next season and beyond as they intend to open talks with players whose contracts are set to expire.
Kaizer Chiefs skipper Brandon Petersen is set to be offered a new contract to stay at Naturena beyond June 2026.
The newly-appointed captain is fast approaching the final six months of his contract with Amakhosi.
And according to SABC Sport, Chiefs have already put plans in place to retain the former Bidvest Wits goalkeeper.
Petersen has taken over as the club’s No.1 after Bruce Bvuma’s dip in form towards the end of last season.
Bvuma along with Fiacre Ntwari were, at some point, ahead of Petersen in the pecking order.
However, the 31-year-old worked hard to reclaim his place in the Amakhosi starting line-up in recent months.

KAIZER CHIEFS TO OFFER PETERSEN NEW CONTRACT
“Kaizer Chiefs are understood to be laying the groundwork to secure continuity in key areas of their squad as part of early contract planning ahead of future seasons,” reads part of the report.
“SABC Sport has been led to believe that goalkeeper Brandon Petersen forms part of those internal discussions, with the club keen to maintain stability in the position rather than allow uncertainty to develop.”
PETERSEN’S RISE FROM THE ASHES
After having fallen out of favour last term, Petersen proved that Chiefs can rely on him with some fantastic performances.
This season only, Petersen has kept 11 cleansheets in the 19 competitive games that he has played.
And nine of those cleansheets were in the league where he has played 13 games for the Glamour Boys.
