2026 FIFA World Cup prize money: Bafana in for huge payday!

Bafana Bafana are in for a huge payday in next year’s FIFA World Cup after the prize money were confirmed on Wednesday.

This year’s champions will walk away with a record $50 million which is in the region of R836 million.

Now, with Bafana Bafana having qualified for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 2002, they are guaranteed a whopping R150 million.

Should Bafana Bafana defy the odds and make it past the group stages, they will pocket R184 million.

Champions: $50 million (R836 million)

Runners-up: $33 million (R552 million)

3rd place: $29 million (R485 million)

4th place: $27 million (R451 million)

5th-8th place: $19 million (R318 million)

9th-16th place: $15 million (R251 million)

17th- 32nd place: $11 million (R184 million)

33rd-48th place: $9 million (R150 million)

Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group A alongside Mexico and South Korea for the FIFA World Cup while the third opponent is still to be confirmed.

The third opponent will be the winner of the playoffs from Pool D, and they include Denmark/North Macedonia/Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland).
